Go to jail

Observed in Caernarfon, Wales

This sign is on the street alongside the County Hall/Courthouse in Caernarfon in Wales.

It is an interesting linguistic echo of some social and administrative history. The English language version refers to the administration from County Hall, which would have been conducted in English and on behalf of the London Government. The Welsh version refers to the jail element of the administrative edifice, the repository, no doubt, of a disproportionate number of local Welsh speakers in its day.
